This is one of the most visually stunning dreams I have had in a long time. It started out on a ship, some kind of tramp steamer. There were bunches of little rooms with sheet metal walls and lots of steerage passengers. Among them were two of my old friends Andy and Les. The ship was not very exciting and I barely remember what happened on it. The fun started when some of the passengers and crew disembarked.
We were at the edge of a very steep canyon, maybe thirty feet wide and one hundred feet deep. The walls were of tan or cream colored sandstone in thin layers with random orientations. Only a few green plants grew out of the cracks. Down one side of the valley and up the other ran a pipeline made of slabs of the native sandstone. It was an inverted siphon for delivering water to some unknown destination. I knew without looking that a similar pipeline ran through a nearly identical canyon on the far side of the rift. And probably others beyond that. At the bottom of the valley there was water powered turbine and generator. I crawled down to have a closer look. The turbine or pelton wheel (water wheel) was crudely made of sheet metal and probably not very efficient but still effective. I was quite surprised that the primitive people who built the pipeline would have the knowledge to manufacture a generator.
Overall the scenery was fantastic and the ancient artifacts very interesting.
This dream filled me with a sense of wonder and the excitement of discovery. The sheet metals walls of the ship and the construction of the pipeline were similar to the look of one of the out buildings on the property we are going to buy so there is a connection to a new adventure.
